Factory Pressed Replication Artwork Guidelines
Please read the following information carefully to ensure that you send us your artwork in the correct format. This will avoid confusion and ultimately help us to process your order more quickly.
- Files need to be saved as CMYK, NOT RGB
- For Computer to Plate Print, files must be presented as high-resolution PDFs (around 300 dpi is ideal)
- You may wish to supply us with the native files that your artwork was created in (eg Photoshop, Illustrator etc), as well as the PDFs which is useful should we need to amend your files to put them into spec. However, please bear in mind that if you cannot supply in spec files, this will probably incur an additional charge to correct them.
- If files need to be corrected for production, depending on the software application used, please follow these procedures:
- Quark Express 6.5/ Indesign CS2. Please collect for out put and double check the screen and printer fonts have also been collected and supplied to us
- PhotoShop CS2. Please rasterize all type layers, or supply fonts and leave as open PSD file so all layers are editable
- Illustrator CS 2. Please save all type as ‘Create as out lines,” save as eps file. Remember to supply any linked files if you have not embedded your placed image. If supplying another vector based application, please save type as curves, and save as an ‘ai’ file
- Acrobat 7 PDF files. If supplying PDF file ready for print, please embed all fonts, ensure all images are saved as CMYK prior to making the PDF file and that the native images are at the correct output resolution 300dpi. Depending on the Acrobat software version you are using, the safe option is to save as the ‘Press Optimized Settings” on the pull down menu
- Big Black / Shiny Blacks. If you are creating dark images, please ensure you do not exceed the ink coverage of 280% as this will not dry on the trimming process incurring a delay. If you are unsure please use the PhotoShop 5 colour profile.
- Files must be saved to the dimensions of the supplied templates. For paper parts don’t forget to adhere to the bleed / trim / safety guidelines which you will incorporate into your final files. These templates MUST be included in the final pdf, or the job will not run. See the examples we have posted if you’re not sure
- For the disc print file, you DON’T need to set it up on the spec. Present it on a plain white square, adhering to the print areas shown
- If you can, please supply us with hard copy proofs for printer’s guidance
Artwork that does not conform to the above guidelines will have to be re-presented. Please take this into account if you have a deadline! We cannot plan production and delivery until all production parts are confirmed as in spec.
